Hi, I've just found my old mobile and it was locked to Orange network.....Is it useless now or will it work on another network?

I think EE took over Orange's customers. Could try asking on their community pages

I had an older phone locked to Orange. I took it to an EE store, and they changed it to EE, but I had to leave it with them as they could not get it to unlock and had to send for a special code. Took a few days.

Most Orange phones should work with EE or Plusnet SIMs, there is only one way to find out - my Orange branded phone worked fine with the previously mentioned SIMs. EE should be able to unlock the phone to work with other networks for £8.99. What model phone is it as some antique models may struggle on any network. https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/getting-started-and-upgrading/unlock-your-phone/unlock-a-ee-device-to-use-with-another-network

What make and model? How old?
Some old Orange branded smartphones can be unlocked with an app from Google Play Store. The app I've used worked every time and is very cheap.2 -

I have just tried a Tesco sim in it and it works.
I'm now thinking that I could have bought it from Carphone warehouse ~ if so it would be unlocked
A complete mystery at the moment
