Sony TV/Humax Box: Some applications are unavailable due to boot error. Please refer to the i-Manual

When I had the problem I checked the firmware etc and all up to date.
I remember looking at another forum and the conclusion was that my particular model needed patching by Sony and that they tried and failed. My main issue was that BBC IPlayer would not work at all - storage size exceeded message.
£30 on Firestick resolved the problem. Might be worth trying as long as WiFi OK where telly is situated.1 -
I know you'll be right, thank you glennevis. I am really poor at understanding technology and I almost certainly did misunderstand. Thanks for clearing it up - yes I do see the white button on the Sony remote0

Thanks Troytempest. I can get BBC iPlayer easily and the subtitles are great for me. My Humax Box gives me good options for recording programmes but it was the notice on screen on my Sony TV: "Some applications are unavailable due to boot error. Please refer to the i-Manual" that made me wonder if that was also something to do with the reduced number of channels available.
I'll have a good look at the i-Manual (thanks to helpful reply from glennevis) and see if I can find anything. Although my 2014 Sony TV is good in many ways, I wonder if it is beginning to play up a bit because it is getting old. It is progress for me, after all this time, to have found the Wi-Fi Password Key and entered it successfully enabling the Sony TV to connect to the internet. Since 2014 this is the first time I have had success!
Thanks again to everyone for the really helpful replies.

Best of luck. Sounds like you are making good progress. I must say that without the Firestick our 2014 Sony would be at the tip by now. Maybe 7 years is not a bad life for a telly.1

Thank you for that link, Le_Kirk. I have not logged in here for a few days and I'll look on the community tomorrow - I think it will be really hrlpful.Update on 14 August: It looks as if I have to "Perform a Factory Reset of the TV". I looked at the instructions and I may lose saved things and have to start again. If this becomes essential I will have to to it. For now, because I'm a bit out of my depth, I'll leave things as they are unless it really does become a problem.Thank you very much Le_Kirk and all the other helpful people here.
