Passport Validity Enq

TUI certainly seem to say they require 6 months validity - the OP is travelling to Spain:RudolphHucker said:masjntt1977 said:Thank you- this is what I found too. The gov passport checker says that passport eligible for travel until at least 8th Aug 2021, tui website says requirements are 6th months remaining from departure date.
ITUI website says: "Please note that certain destinations insist on at least 6 months validity from the return date."They do not state that they require 6 months validity.masjntt1977 said:Thank you. I have spoken to Tui and they have said that their guidelines state that have to have six months remaining and would not allow travel despite what the gov website states about entry requirements 🙁 xx0 -
Hi no I hadn’t booked anything luckily - tui won’t allow us to fly. Due to other commitments we cannot travel any later this year so will plan for next year instead hopefully. Really disappointed but those are their rules.Pollycat said:
Just to go back to the OP - what are your plans now?masjntt1977 said:Thank you. I have spoken to Tui and they have said that their guidelines state that have to have six months remaining and would not allow travel despite what the gov website states about entry requirements 🙁 xx
Did you have something booked and now will lose your holiday or where you just thinking about booking?
Thank you to everyone for your replies etc x3 -
Don't feel too disappointed, it could be a fortunate circumstance that has prevented you from encountering some kind of mishap..!Evolution, not revolution1

When Brexit was being discussed it was being reported that one of the changes would be the requirement for 6 months left of your passport
Just two examples
When the Brexit transition period ends, Brits will need a minimum of six months left on their passports to travel to Schengen Area countries, which applies to most of Europe.

I've always been baffled by the 6 months on a passport rule as I've often travelled with much less. It used to happen quite a lot when I could only get a 5 years passport which was a real faff to renew.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. it was supposed to be a result of Brexit and UK losing EU rights.
Maybe the Withdrawal Agreement changed things.

After lots of phone calls / emails etc the entry requirements are currently 3 months validity as per FCDO - 6 months is only recommended.
Tui told me we would not be able to board without six months on passport but have now said that they follow to FCDO requirements so I could have actually travelled.By the time they clarified this the holidays for the dates I wanted have sold out. Just thought would update this in case it helps anyone else in the future

What a mess!
The problem you may have encountered is that the person checking you in might be working from TUI's initial stance of 6 month left on passport or they'll deny boarding.
And even if you managed to get to talk someone who could make the decision to let you board as the 6 month is only 'recommended' in time to catch your flight, it would have been incredibly stressful.
It's taken you 5 days to get TUI to revise their stance so I think you may have had a problem.

@masjntt1977 Sorry to read about your issues with Tui.
We are due to fly tomorrow with them and I've just discovered that my 4 year old daughter's passport is short the 6 months by 10 days (expires in February 2022). Do you (or anyone else reading this) have anything in writing from Tui saying they follow FCDO advice, that I could use if they try and stop us boarding?
Anything would be much appreciated.
