Well had someone look at the worst offending ceilings, albeit thru a window as the neighbour let him pop thru there garden.
The offending ceilings need to come down, its the easiest way and it means smooth ceilings.
He did say that its an impressive job tho not the thickest, but its up there

The dust gets everywhere in the house as well as unmentionable places on the body (even with PPE). When you come to rip the laths out (thin strips of wood nailed to the ceiling joist), you must make sure you get all the nails out - Mole grips and a pry bar are useful tools.Don't underestimate the amount of waste generated - I did a 4m x 4m room and filled a bulk bag and a bit (probably about a tonne all told).Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

We had to do the same in my mums house- same construction. Utter pig of a job and mine is bigger than my mums and spanning 2 rooms.FreeBear said:Monsternextdoor said: The offending ceilings need to come down, its the easiest way and it means smooth ceilings.I will warn you now, taking lime plaster down is a real dirty job. I'm not even bothering to unpack till the ceiling is done I will set up the living room, so the kids have somewhere to chill till the rooms are done but until the wet work is sorted im gonna have to live out of boxes for a few weeks.0
