I've yet to see any particularly good arguments for the PS3 - it's no more powerful than the 360 (whatever Sony say..), it doesn't have anything like the same number of games, it doesn't have anything to really match xbox live in terms of infrastructure...it has a much smaller number of users (which might be important to you if you play online...loads of my mates have 360s, only one has a PS3...nice to have people to play co-op with) and...most importantly...it doesn't have RUMBLE.
If you're *really* pro-bluray, look at the PS3, otherwise I just can't see why anyone wouldn't get a 360...

i have to agree with this
i got a wii at launch, played it for about a month, packed it up let it gather dust and sold it a few weeks ago for a huge profit :money:No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

I agree, I had 2 in the nad old days before they acknowledged the Rings of Death, when my 2nd one died I took it back and got a PS3. Lovely machine, wireless built in, and a lot quieter than the 360. In addition, multiplayer gaming is free.
Yes, the 360 has Live, and that is so much better than the PS3 at present but it will improve. Go for the PS3, it's much better.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -
360 it has to be. Microsoft are not going to let this fail. Its just starting to get a decent foothold in the market now. For choice of games and online gameplay its Bill Gates and the 360 crew all the way!!!!!!0

Ah...but I can play the entire Resident Evil series on the PS3, right back from the original PS1 ones up to RE4 and then next year, Resi 5 comes out

...and this holds true for virtually every ps1/ps2 game ever released, so the PS3 deffo gets the versatility vote.
We've got PS2s and a PS3, but have got the kids a 360 for xmas so they can play boring tripe like Halo, and I can reclaim the PS3 for zombie-slaying

The choice is really simple for me. As it is a games console, then the main purpose for buying one is to play games whether solo or online. There seems to be a universal agreement that the xbox is better hen it comes to games and online play.
For people who argue about blue-ray or other bells & whistles I say: what is the point if it is inferior when it comes to games? and can you not see how the price of HD players are plummeting? Issues of xbox reliability were solved by extended warranties and a new chip that doesn't heat as much as the old one. As for backward compatibility then why buy the latest technology in gaming to play PacMan?
I had my Xbox 360 since launch and also tried the PS3 and as long as playing is what I am after then I'll stick to my Xbox 360. If I think of invading another planet then I'll consider getting the PS3 (or on a second thought may just get a powerful PC).Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0
