For the avoidance of doubt there was nothing in the original image to suggest anything should be connected to the terminal marked '1'.
The copper parts probably are the bridge which seems to have been removed from where it was, and have been stowed as you say.
I do hope the OP comes back to update the thread.... so we know he is still alive at least. And hopefully that a professional electrician has got the hob working at last.
