HSBC MSE £140 switch offer

  • for those who have received the bonus for this offer, did you maintain a cash balance in your HSBC account? I know that that was not part of the T&C but was wondering if I should make sure to keep some money in there anyway, since it is required for the account to stay open.
  • Had another call with HSBC's team. I've not received the bonus as I have an open credit card with them, and the offer is for new customer's only. I said there was nothing in the T&Cs about new customers, just that they are opening a new account, and not had an HSBC/FD account after a certain date. The lass was very helpful, but it seems I have to take it up with Money Supermarket, as they were responsible for the campaign.
  • I have spent over 1hr on the phone to HSBC trying to resolve this. They first claimed that I applied for the account in July, outside of the terms of the offer - I didn’t. Then they said I applied on the cut off date, this is correct, but I applied before the cut off time ( thanks for the t&cs posted above). I was told I wouldn’t get the incentive payment so I raised a complaint, they made an immediate offer of £100 compensation which I declined, this was followed by an offer of £125 which I also declined. I was then asked what I wanted to resolve the complaint - £140 was the obvious reply! 1hr 14 mins later agreed to pay £140 compensation, nothing extra for the time taken to resolve tho ;-)
