Music event cancelled – but I am only being offered a 75% refund

Hi all,

A music event I was due to attend (Standon  Calling) was cancelled on Sunday, 25th July 2021 – due to the weather.

This was widely reported in the music media, there is also the story at the BBC News Website (I can't post the link as a newbee).

The venue has emailed me today offering me either, i) a “75% refund of the tickets price (but no refund of the booking fees).  Or, ii) a “roll-over of the tickets to next year”.

The 25% loss is £75, so I am reluctant to accept the offer.

The tickets were purchased via TicketMaster, which I am pretty sure made me pay for insurance when buying the tickets.  I don’t recall the full terms and conditions of the insurance when ordering the tickets; however, for a cancelled event I would expect a 100% refund, including the booking fee.

I have some questions;

1.  Can the event, actually dictate how much of a refund I can get?  Or are they just “trying it on” in an attempt to persuade people to roll-over their ticket.

2. If TicketMaster don’t provide a 100% refund including booking fees, can I take this up with my Visa company. Or could TicketMaster have added some small print that says I have waived my rights in respect of the “Visa guarantee”.

To be clear, I don’t want to roll-over the tickets (who knows what groups will be playing next year; I might not like the line-up) I just want all my money back.

Any/all advice gratefully received.

Thanks
