I've added a 4.8kw battery in to my solar simulation so it shall be interesting to see the difference it makes.

Thanks for that, what does the system do when the batteries hit their max DOD, do they have to charge back up to a certain level until they can be used by the system otherwise they would be in a constant state of charge/discharge?
Once the batteries are at 10% and they start to charge, they won't output anything until they hit 15%. Then they would potentially discharge to 10% again if the sun went in and you had the demand

Edit thats assuming you have the 90% DOD batteries, not sure on the 95% DOD ones
I assume you mean they "start to charge " if there is excess solar, or a command to charge from grid.

They shouldn't start to charge from the grid because they have reached 10%
They should sit, as mine are now, at 10% until I either tell them to charge, or it gets sunnier

Yes correct Solarchaser, sorry badly worded that :)
No worries at all, just confirming as iirc some of the people using uhome batteries reported the behaviour i thought you were describing and I was starting to wonder if it was actually a system setting since you have pylons
I've got uhome batteries and can confirm that on occasions when the batteries reach their minimum level they will start to charge again at 350W. On these occasions the battery voltage continued to fall after they had stopped discharging and when it reached 49.5V they went into this 'emergency recharge' mode. I've set my minimum level to 12% and not had the problem since.

  • Last winter my Pylontech batteries went through a charge cycle when not scheduled to do so, I assumed it was the BMS deciding they had been "low" for sometime so needed a boost.  Only noticed it once but maybe it has done this at other times.  Usually everything behaves as expected only charging when scheduled or when solar generation is in excess of my usage.
