We recently bought a Haier 10kg washing machine from the AO outlet in Telford. It was less than £300 including delivery. Extremely quiet - although I admit it's in a separate laundry cupboard away from the kitchen itself - and great having the larger capacity. Very happy with our purchase 😃

We have a Haier Hatrium, which has a 10kg capacity. IIRC it was about 300 beans.

The selling point for us was that it has a direct drive system i.e. the drum doesn't have a belt that rotates it, its connected directly to a motor, which reduces the risk of something going wrong. And to back up this claim, Haier offer a lifetime warranty for the motor. Better than 5 years!!

So far, no problems. And another benefit, its really quiet.

I have been looking at Miele washing machines and whilst they are considerably more expensive, they do seem to be very reliable (based upon the review I have read).  My slight issue, however, is finding anywhere that sells them with anything beyond a 2-year warranty.

If they are as good as they seem to be, I cannot see any reason why Miele would not slap at least a 5-year warranty on all its models - many of the other brands (Samsung and LG) seem to be doing this on the majority of their models.
  • I paid £65 for 10 years warranty. You will find after market warranties will sell you for Mieles at decent prices because they know the likleyhood of needing repair in 10 years is minimal because they are so well made.

Excellent advice - thanks very much.
