I stopped watching TV and informed TV Licensing a year ago, I now want to watch the Olympics Athletics competition, so I went online to pay for a licence but seem unable to do so, as I keep going round in circles:-

https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/pay-for-your-tv-licence/index.app
                                Clicked “New Licence”
                                                                  Clicked “Debit or CC”
Clicked “Pay for your TV licence”
                                                                                                                                                       BACK to tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/etc

Does anyone have any advice, other than paying at the Post Office?

BTW as I informed TV Licensing that I was not watching TV, I did not receive any threatening letters.

  • Very limited coverage on terrestrial telly.

Do you need a licence to watch Olympics on Discovery+ https://www.discoveryplus.co.uk/olympics/home ? Not sure what the rules are for watching live events over streaming services.

Agreed. Very limited coverage on terrestrial and certainly not worth purchasing a licence for a couple of weeks.

I'm only going off what you said you were doing to try and pay for the licence as seems to missing steps.

    1. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/pay-for-your-tv-licence/index.app

    2. Click on New Licence

    3. Click Yourself

    4. Tick yes if needed before today and enter the date or no if you haven't.

    5. Click online or paper for tv licence

    6.  Yes or no to which applies yo you for next 2 questions and then continue.

    7. Fill in your personal details and continue

    8. Fill I. address details and continue

    9. Select payment preference and follow instructions.

Discovery+ is highly recommend, I'm doing the £7 a month - cancelled so not doesn't renew.

    They have every sport covered.

BBC this year is really bad for coverage, they are limited and can only stream 2 events live (they lost the bid), no red button to choose what you want only what they decide.

You may a need tv licence though

The law says you need to be covered by a TV Licence to:

    • watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV, on any channel
    • watch or stream programmes live on an online TV service (such as ITV Hub, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now TV, Sky Go, etc.)
  • @Marvel1 Agree about the Discovery+ Olympic coverage, very impressed that they are covering every sport/event.

Some people may be able to take advantage of a current Vodafone VeryMe promotion that offers 6 months of subscription for free.
