Plusnet No Help

I tried to get help from my internet provider, Plusnet, as I am a very low income earner ( just got a job after being unemployed for almost 18 months) They have no help, no discounts and want to charge me £150 to leave so I can go to BT, who are about £15 cheaper for broke people. Anyone had any luck persuading them to drop their prices?? I'm under contract, which is their excuse for being unhelpful.

Well with all due respect the whole point of having a contract is that it is fixed for x months and in exchange for staying with them for x months you agreed that if you want to up sticks and go early, you would pay £y in termination fees.  You want to leave  so they can charge you.  That's you agree to.  If you've found a better deal elsewhere after you agreed to this one then, well, that's life unfortunately, and life sucks sometimes.

re: BT, you're probably looking at BT Basic.  That's not "for broke people" as you put it, that's for people on certain benefits, its a social tariff.  You have to be eligible for it, its not open to everybody.

Anyway its good to hear you've now found work after 18 months out so hopefully you can see out Plusnet and find a better deal with somebody else in due course.
