Food hygiene level 2 - they researched this afternoon that they can complete this course at their ageThey would need st least this ^^ see link. https://www.highspeedtraining.co.uk/hub/food-hygiene-certificate-to-sell-food/You may be surprised to learn that starting a street food business requires just as much compliance as running a restaurant or takeaway, and this includes receiving food hygiene training. When selling street food from a truck, you must know how to safely store, prepare, handle, and distribute it so it’s fit for consumption.
You need to acquire a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering certificate if you prepare and distribute the food yourself.

If you have to be named on the insurance, it's going to be hard to claim that the business is just theirs and that you should be able to keep all your benefits.ohwhatdoido said:Not sure about insurance yet.

Thank you poppy, yes I would make sure of this 💜
Mojisola ok so may be a no go then until they can put insurance in their name 😔1 -
Such a shame for them. But I can't afford for their trial venture to risk my benefits at the moment

Back to the drawing board with ideas for them 😏0 -
A thought - when on carers allowance, I'm 'allowed' to earn £140 per week, is that right? Could this be a route to go down?0

The issues i see here is that you will some how be involved in the business because you have to transport them to where ever they want to go. Even more so if your name has to be on the insurance. Although you won't be taking any money from them but if DWP ask questions you will need to prove you are not making any money from this. They are both still in school, so Monday to Friday. Would they be able to cope with the business as well? May i ask was this their idea or yours?Added onto this, you are a carer, which isn't easy. Are you going to be able to cope with transporting them to where they want to go as well as being a carer and a full time mum?If you can cope with helping with the business as well have you thought of being part of the business so you would be earning money as well as them? so a family business? You would of course need to tell DWP and if you earn more than £20 per week then your Income Support would stop. Do you claim tax credits? If you do and you work more than 16 hours per week then you would be able to claim working tax credits. Do be aware though that carers allowance has a maximum earnings level of £128 per week.Or use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit. You could claim the carers element in with your maximum entitlement (no earnings limit with this like there is with carer allowance) and you don't need to claim carers allowance to be entitled to the carers element.

            Thank you.
This is totally their idea, just wanting to make money, started off by talking about newspaper round, then the conversation moved to what about researching job ideas for teenagers, then they came up with this.
They are home educated so this would fit in nicely alongside their learning.
I have family around to help them if I am not available to take/pick up.
I want this to be as much just theirs as possible. But if I need to help them on their way, if I can I will.
So I can't earn £128 pw while being on carers allowance without income support stopping? Is that right?0 -

Yes, that's correct. As advised, when claiming Income Support you can only earn £20 per week anything more than this and your IS reduces £1 for £1.

There are other things 15 year olds can do for a few bob. Wash cars, cut lawns for example. Unless they now need to be insured/safeguarded for that!0
