Cancelled Sky, no offer to stay

New to the forum so hello!

My sky broadband and TV package contract is up for renewal and due to end towards the end of August so I phoned them a week ago to see what they'd offer me to stay.

I've been with sky over 10 years and got the usual thanks for your loyalty etc. I've actually got a pretty good deal with sky, I pay £79 a month for the broadband, sky sports, Netflix, movies, box sets etc and multi room.

I spoke to two different people to begin with. I advised that I wanted to drop the multi room and they came back with an offer to stay for £78 a month. I'm currently paying £15 for multi room so in theory, that was an increase in price so went down the route of asking to be put through to cancellations expecting a better offer. Cancellations came back with an offer of £81, £2 more than the other department! Out of principle, I said to go ahead with the 31 day cancellation notice thinking they might offer me a better deal between putting that in and the end of that 31 day period but a week has gone by and I haven't heard a peep. Ideally I don't want to leave sky and thought they may chase me to stay but haven't heard anything.

Should I expect them to still come back.to me at some point with a better offer or is it looking like I'll have to go back with my tail between my legs?

You are not entitled to any discount per se, and Sky do not have to offer one either.  You may get lucky but equally you may not in due course.

    Hi Paulytee,

We've been told that if you're within your cancellation window, you can sometimes sign in to your account and find some sort of 'welcome back' offer here. You can use this link to sign in here: https://skyid.sky.com/signin

It's actively encouraging you to haggle, so it would be rude not to take advantage...

Appreciate you've done this already, but you can contact Sky on 0333 7591 018 or maybe even try its online chat service to see what they'll give you, then compare it to the latest offers for new and existing customers.

Let us know how you get on.

Funnily enough, they phoned me after my post later in the afternoon yesterday and offered me the broadband, TV, sports, movies, box sets etc, Netflix, HD, basically the same as I had upgrading to Sky Signature for £8 cheaper a month than they offered prior to me putting my 31 day cancellation in. I probably could've got more off if I'd said no but I didn't really want to leave anyway so accepted the offer. Happy with that! Saves me £96 a year, can't complain.
That's a great success, thanks for sharing!  B)
