    The Gas Board ceased to exist in 1972 when it became British Gas Corporation.  Then the gas supply part of the corporation was privatised in the 1980s.  If you see @SPOWER, tell him.

    My plumbing and heating chap who services my boiler (now coming up to 31 years old) often tells me that 'the gas board would have condemned this years ago'.
