Vauxhall Warranty
Van went into dealer on Thursday due to EML and it was diagnosed with burst intercooler pipe. It was also in to get the air box checked.
The dealer called me back to say that Vauxhall tell him my van only has a 60k warranty. He was surprised as all Vivaro's have 100k.
I spoke with Vauxhall and I have been told I have a Vivaro Cargo. I quickly pointed out ALL Vivaro vans are cargos. The Vivaro Life is a passenger variant of the van.
I have sent off various email in regards to this and included the MD of Vauxhall and so far no reply. I have had to spend £315 to get my van back.
So who should I be contacting in regards to this? Any advice or help will be much appreciated.

If it's only done 18500 miles, what does it matter if it's 60K or 100K?1

I have contacted the AA legal helpline. They have told me to contact Vauxhall and say they are bound by the terms at point of purchase and if this has changed to provide me with new terms and dates when this was given to me.0

Does the warranty transfer to the second owner? Or is it only valid for the initial purchaser?1

There's something strange here. As you probably saw on the Vauxhall website the 100000 mile warranty for Vivaro was introduced from Jan 2015
"When did the Lifetime Warranty Programme end?
The Lifetime Warranty Programme ended in January 2015.
From January 2015 all new Vauxhalls benefit from New Car Warranty (Up to 3 years and 60,000 miles from first registration. Movano and Vivaro have the same coverage, but up to 100,000 miles)"
Given this info, what made the dealer check the warranty status of the vehicle? (could be routine). Have they definitely rejected a warranty claim based on mileage or is it due to a lack of service history or external damage to the failed part?
As the AA have said, you need something in writing from Vauxhall. I'd be tempted to use the old fashioned contact method and write a letter to the MD (he won't deal with it himself but it will make sure that you get a reply). Include the VIN and registration number, possibly a photocopy of the V5 so they have all the info to look into it. Once you know exactly why it's been turned down you can decide on your next move.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0 -
