walk around your bungalow . should be around £"100 every two steps . I charge around 55 or 65 per lineal meter for white with white or black gutters and downspouts .

For £6k I'd want a new roof as well as the gutters ...  Sounds like they don't want the job, to be honest.
We paid £2000 a few years ago for all new gutters, downpipes, soffits, fascia in our 2-bedroom end of terrace + detached garage  - that included scaffolding for the house. We were told at the time that was the top end of what we should be paying, but it was a very reputable local company who were able to do the job quickly mid-winter when things were getting very very damp inside the house!
  • We paid £7000 last year for an entire roof including felt, battens, tiles and ridges. Everything but the gutters and soffits, in fact! It's a two storey house so full scaffolding was needed, including long beams to span over a conservatory at the corner of the house.

Given that you've been quoted similar for just gutters and soffits, and on a bungalow to presumably much easier access, I'd say yes, they're trying to rip you off.

£1400 last week for new soffits, fascias, square guttering on all 4 sides of a large 4 bed detached, north east, had a quote with scaffolding and came in at £4500, this guy just used his ladder.

Maybe they don't want the job, though why they can't just say so...

We had our gutters and downpipes replaced, as well as the soffit boards painted on a 4 bed detached house, for less than £1,000.  He doesn't use scaffolding...but that's his problem and he's never out of work around here!  So.....'Yes, you're being taken for a ride'.

Yes, that seems steep, we’re getting ours done soffits, fascia boards and guttering plus 2 upvc windows, 3.5k, it’s a two bed bungalow, it’s a layer of tiles off and replace the wood, no plastic overs ,

The OP only said that guttering and soffits were to be replaced, not fascias. Would any tiles need to be removed to do that?
  • Thanks for all your comments. Really helpful and appreciated. They sent me the quote through the post and couldn’t believe it was so high. I am relieved that this is not the normal cost.

I didn’t even ask the company for a quote for the soffits just the guttering. I should have gone out to watch him looking around the house but we were shielding from Covid so had to leave him to it.
