I suspect the long awaited push-back will have happened long before that time. Woodwarm come out well in Which surveys. The new EcoDesign specification for stoves is coming in soon but if you're not in a smoke control area I noticed that Woodwarm have a number of discontinued lines that might fit your budget and still be legal.

Stovax and Hunter mentioned before all sound like safe bets, probably not for £600. I notice a compact version of the araada hamlet is on sale at one place, I would assume they are an ok brand as well having been around and being made in Devon.
