Store credits rather than fully money refund

I have recently bought a few items online from a store. After I returned all the items, the store gave me a gift card rather than credited the refund to my credit card. I did not expect that. After I check on their website, I found the following:
  • Your refund will either be credited to the original purchaser’s credit card, PayPal account or as store credit.

I don't like the store and I don't want to spend any money on their store future. In this case, how could I ask them to credit to my credit card?

If you bought the items online, and returned them within 14 days of receipt, and as long at they weren't part of a specifically excluded category, then by law they have to refund you and not give gift cards

Tell them this and if they refuse ask your card provider for a chargeback.

They showed me a screenshot of my return form and suggested that I chose the option of store credit.
To be honest, I did not know there was an option of store credit and I may have overlooked it.
Can I still ask them to refund me with my money?

If they refuse and ignore my email, what could I do in the next step, please?

I am not sure you are entitled to to convert vouchers into a repayment to a card once you have accepted the vouchers. You would have been legally entitled to a refund to your payment method before you have accepted vouchers, but now having accepted vouchers I am not sure that you can then have an entitlement to have the vouchers changed to a refund to your credit or debit card.

It is a real scam. I did not see clearly there was an option of store credit. I bet loads of people fell for this scam but did not release it.
They insisted that because of my choice in the first place, they refuse to do anything.

But, according to your return form,  you accepted the option of a store credit.

You bought the good online and if you returned them online then your legally entitled to your money back but if you returned to the store in person then your tied to the inshore return policy

Are you sure of this? It doesn't sound correct to me... where does this come in to the legislation?
