Just read on powercompare.co.uk that OE single Rate electricity in my region is 13.76 per kWh. DSC of 21 pence per day.
The cheapest Octopus Energy tariff I could find for an average consumption of electricity (ignoring any specialist smart meter only tariffs) based on the West Midlands supply region was 18.722p per kWh and 25.08p per day. (
    Flexible Octopus)

Price Promise Tariff  Electricity Unit rate: 17.91 p/kWh Standing charge: 23.99 p/day

However Price Promise Tariff will rise automatically in October if as expected price cap increases whereas Octopus often delay price increases for existing customers who are on flexible Octopus Tariff

Still a lot more expensive than the price the OP claims to have found.
I think I'll put that order for a very long extention lead on hold.

Hi All, My current fixed rate tariff (electricity only) will be ending soon. I've been paying 14.60 pence per kWh. Am rather shocked to find that electricity unit rates have jumped to approx 21 pence per kWh. (Octopus 24M Fixed 2021 and Co-op Community Power 12M Fixed 2021). Have I entered the Twilight Zone or what? What do you other Forumites pay for your single rate electricity? And which energy company supply your electricity? Many thanks in advance.
If you must stay with octopus then get a smart meter and move to octopus go or go faster as @dolor said. It's really a no brainer.

Octopus' fixed and variable tariffs are not particularly competitive with the overall market but their go and go faster tariff is.

I've just gone back to Symbio (with my eyes wide open as I've been with them before)) but it's worth it for 12.514p/kwh and 12p/day.  Fixed until 31/7/2022 (or until they go bust).

As we chew through around 7500kwh a year, every penny is worth £75.

NeonReefs increase of 5p/kwh would have cost me an extra £375 a year
