Barclays will be changing soon.
I would expect Visa debit cards to be as rare as hen's teeth soon. As Mastercard have thrown £Millions at the banks to switch over.

Indeed, and only yesterday launched their flavour of Visa's rewards portal.1

Even if Mastercard offered Barclays a better deal, Visa would more than likely jump in and offer an even better one, Visa would not allow Mastercard to get their paws on barclays at any cost.
I'd also be surprised to see LBG jumping ship any time soon, their recentish 'Ghostbusters' advertising has featured the Visa brand quite prominently, both in print and on video.
NatWest and HSBC is much less of a surprise as they've only moved over to Visa from the Mastercard empire (namely Solo and Switch/Maestro) in the last 15 years.
So that really just leaves the likes of TSB (who have postponed it indefinitely as far as I am aware, if not cancelled), Nationwide (who intended to launch a business account with Mastercard but then binned that plan off) and Co-op Bank (who generally are doing very little in the way of making changes or innovation) as possible candidates. Visa Debit is a very long way away from being "rare as hens teeth"!
Santander only switched because all their other banking divisions in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Poland and in South/Centro America issue debit mastercard, so it made sense to allign their UK operations with the same provider.0 -
4 brands if you include MBNALBG (and HBOS previously) have been exclusively Visa Debit for as long as I can remember, but as far as I can see have never issued Visa credit cards. There might be some legacy MBNA products which still issue Visa credit cards.0

I always associated Switch/Solo/Maestro with RBS, HSBC and CYBG, didn't know Halifax were once an issuer too.1 -

I have been to places where Visa is widely accepted but Mastercard is not, although this is quite rare. As mentioned above, it can also be prudent to have one of each just in case.
Can anyone advise how to get mini-statements and intermediate statements out of a HSBC machine using a Mastercard debit card? I was sent one of these a few weeks ago and cannot use it at ATMs except to get cash and balances. This is not what I joined FD for many years ago. FD and HSBC staff are no help to me apart from from telling me to go on-line.
