Both my banks (Santander and first direct) have changed to mastercard. It is widely accepted so I don't think it is an issue unless as someone says there is an outage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. LBG (inc Halifax/BOS)
Barclays (also Barclaycard)
TSB
Co-op (also issue Visa credit cards)
Tesco Bank
HSBC (not First Direct) for the time being at least
Nationwide isn't a bank but they also issue Visa debit cards and credit cards.2 -
It’s worth noting that NatWest Group have already signed an agreement to switch to Mastercard, so they won’t be Visa for much longer.
Tesco Bank’s accounts aren’t open to new customers, other than the Clubcard Pay card, and TSB were due to switch to Mastercard too but cancelled it due to their IT issues.
TSB may revisit the idea of a switch later, or possibly end up switching anyway if Sabadell sell them to another bank (which has been mooted).0 -
My Visa's are Barclays debit, Barclaycard, Lloyds debit, Nationwide debit and credit card, Jaja credit card.0

TSB delayed their switch to Mastercard in 2018. Expect that will be on the cards soon.
Barclays will be changing soon.
I would expect Visa debit cards to be as rare as hen's teeth soon. As Mastercard have thrown £Millions at the banks to switch over.Life in the slow lane0 -

I have found it important to have one of each for ticketing of certain major sporting events. If Visa or Mastercard is a key sponsor they may not allow ticket purchases with the other. The last World Cup was like that and we had to open an account with a Visa card to buy tickets and also that was all you could use to buy drinks etc in the stadiums. I believe it was the same here for the London 2012 Olympics and apparently Visa is the exclusive payment processor at all Olympics until 2032.

I have definitely been to countries where only one was generally accepted. In any case I wouldn't like to travel without one of each in case of either processing network being down.

Even if Mastercard offered Barclays a better deal, Visa would more than likely jump in and offer an even better one, Visa would not allow Mastercard to get their paws on barclays at any cost.1 -

I'd also be surprised to see LBG jumping ship any time soon, their recentish 'Ghostbusters' advertising has featured the Visa brand quite prominently, both in print and on video.
NatWest and HSBC is much less of a surprise as they've only moved over to Visa from the Mastercard empire (namely Solo and Switch/Maestro) in the last 15 years.
So that really just leaves the likes of TSB (who have postponed it indefinitely as far as I am aware, if not cancelled), Nationwide (who intended to launch a business account with Mastercard but then binned that plan off) and Co-op Bank (who generally are doing very little in the way of making changes or innovation) as possible candidates. Visa Debit is a very long way away from being "rare as hens teeth"!
