Hi, interested to find out if anyone else has been through this.
Long term sick, company GP says that I cannot return to current job. Great I thought they would try and find another post for me.
Downside is possible termination of contract and out of the door in 8 weeks, Been there 20+ years.
Does the timescales give anyone else concern.

There’s only so many jobs you’re going to be able to do, however long you’ve been working there. You already know you can’t return to your current role - those assessments have been done. So how long you think it should take? 2 months to look at other options seems fair enough to me.ETA you’ve posted this in the redundancy section but this is not a redundancy situation, it’s a capability one because your job is still there. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
8 weeks seems perfectly reasonable.0

8 weeks would be a little quick for someone with 12 weeks notice.0

8 weeks in the default time period for the redeployment process.
Interesting that they can move to redundancy through the back door via this process.
Anyone else been in this situation.0 -
It is not redundancy. Not sure why you think it is. If they can’t find you another post then it’s dismissal on capability grounds. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Anyone else been in this situation.
So it's 8 weeks to attempt redeployment and then notice or PILON?
As others have said, this has got nothing to do with redundancy, whether you think it is through the back door or not.0 -
Apparently not; some of have said that notice period starts when the Redeployment process starts.
Not sure will ask HR.
