    Understand what?
I have a young adult out there making her way in the world. I'd like her to have the best in life, of course i would. But, from my own experiences with sibling, what one would like or prefer, is not necessarily what one can afford. Would i expect her to tie herself to the location i've chosen to live in? Not a snowballs chance in hell. It is her life, her choices, and she absolutely must do what is right for her. What is right for her might well be paying rent. Posters often talk about rent being wasted money, and i do understand that perspective. Maintaining a property is rarely mentioned and for some these costs can make the difference between clinging on, and going over the edge. Judging by TV advertising there are plenty of people who take out short terms loans to finance boiler repairs for example. Each to their own

I was responding to the comment about 'kids being a choice so don't moan'. Life is never as simple as that.

Everything else you've just said I am in full agreement with.

If you want a decent education and the best start for your kids, you do

Keep telling yourself all that money was/will be worth it.
  • Well we have finally had an offer accepted. Went to sealed bids and a few other offers were on the table.
EA is pushing to use their solicitor which I am reluctant to do.
But the process is starting! Fingers crossed it’s smoother this time and we manage to get to exchange/complete!
