I'd appreciate people trying to do me a favour.callum9999 said:dr_adidas01 said:The previous thread about the Newday card was deleted and I got a snotty message from MSE saying with regards to my post on the thread, was not polite, despite me simply saying I'm here to simply see what people post on this thread.I would suggest you take the one on Virgin Money's website as the true indication of what the chance of being accepted is, as they will have modeled the checker to suit the type of customer they are looking for.
I have no idea why you're both shocked, they are very obviously mean spirited things to do.Puddles1983 said:I previously got ppr’d for suggesting that Dandytf is a troll… that they post things like this on the credit card board knowing full well long term users know exactly what Dandytf’s situation is (seemingly a pathological need to be accepted for credit), and the consequent reactions of everyone else.
Don’t care if I get ppr’d again for suggesting we simply ignore and move on.
I'd completely support you all ignoring and moving on - it's futile because they refuse to take the advice we all keep giving him. That would actually involve you moving on though, not repeatedly coming back to inform everyone that you're allegedly moving on!
I deal with people incapable of following simple concepts on how to look after themselves better on a daily basis - often far more extreme than Dandy (I work in A&E). I can assure you all that berating, belittling and making snide remarks never, ever results in them "coming to their senses". I'd encourage you to stop and think about how you'd feel being on the receiving end of this over something you can't control (though I acknowledge that it's far, far less vicious here now than it traditionally has been).1 -
Putting aside the laughable "I'm being mean because I'm a good person trying to help" troupe that's often claimed on here, I do not believe for a second that you'd view a string of digs and insults to be a "favour". Presumably that's just a sign of ignorance about mental health.p3ncilsharpener said:

It's why I put him on ignore, though I still see the posts apparently. I was supportive when he started his recovery from DMP and got a couple of cards etc but then it's just got out of hand, every time we try and help he just ignores it and keeps applying for more and more. Talks about wanting to build up credit history and all paid off in full etc but already needs to pay for BT to cover debt he's taken out and can't pay back, has expensive window finance etc. Slipping back into the old habits that got the DMP in the first place.

Being blunt isn't being mean, and the snowflakes really need to learn this.callum9999 said:

But you don't even practice what you preach, do you? You've berated people for making snide remarks, and made them yourself. You've essentially told everyone "people don't learn by beating their heads with a stick" and have frequently done the same thing.
So are you a hypocrite or just plain wrong?1 -
Depends how you're defining being blunt. I'd wager that, under your definition, it absolutely is being mean. "The snowflakes been to learn this" being a perfect example.p3ncilsharpener said:

Have I? I'm very open to the possibility of being a hypocrite but you're going to have to show me specifically where I've berated and insulted people unprovoked. Your claim reads more like the "if you're not tolerant of intolerance, you're intolerant yourself" rubbish though.1
