    Uses of used engine oil:-

    • Industrial burner oil, where the used oil is dewatered, filtered and demineralised for use in industrial burners;
    • Mould oil to help release products from their moulds (e.g. pressed metal products, concrete);
    • Hydraulic oil;
    • Bitumen based products;
    • An additive in manufactured products; or
    • Re-refined base oil for use as a lubricant, hydraulic or transformer oil.
    So not too much direct environmental impact from used oil.

    Washer fluid running out is a bit extreme, there can't be many who simply let it run out and drive around 'dry' from that point on....

    I bet it's frighteningly high
    I don't think it would be, it just doesn't stand to reason that people will drive around for lengthy periods with empty washers, waiting for rain to help them out.
    And just because someone doesn't know how to check tyres or pads, it doesn't mean they won't be able to top up washer bottles.
    There is a scary number of people who won't lift the bonnet for anything.
    Some of those might use a Halfords service, which at least gets it done.
    Some of them really don't care 'cause it's a company car, or whatever, and they deserve a 1-series to reflect their "status" but only got given a Megane, so if the company disrepects them, what does the company expect???
    That latter group is frightening.  And big.
  • Good news - my friend's car was fine despite being 15000 miles overdue for a service - I wouldn't recommend it tough
