GNE move to EDF

This has been a monumental c**k up. I have complaint been in progress since April.
On my latest EDF bill both the gas and electricity parts have the following statement 'Tariff end date 31 Jan 2029'.
Does this imply a contract to supply at current prices?
Is the Tariff offer enforceable by law?
What would OFGEN and the courts say if EDF withdrew offer?
This looks like a great benefit of the EDF takeover or is it another of their c**k ups?

My tariff details say the same - it's a mistake and should be 31 Sept 2021.

Have you actually had a bill ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

GNE told everyone this was an error and the end date was 30th Sep (not 31st!).
As @Robin9 asks, do you actually have a bill or are you just looking at the tariff details online or in the app?

    @Robin9
The 2029 date appears on an official EDF bill. Therefore it's an offer and a contract.

It's on an official EDF bill. Nothing to do with GNE. It's an offer from EDF and would appear to be a written contract.

Do keep us updated, there are a lot of us who are potentially in the same situation!

Will do. Currently awaiting call from Complaints department. Will then drop the bombshell that I accept the offer of a Tariff with a 2029 expiry date. Should be an interesting conversation.

Not yet it's part of a complicated complaint. However, I actual have a very nice lady trying to resolve it.
She is not amused by the 2029 statement. At least 30,000 have received bills with the statement.

You maybe should be careful on agreeing to a contract until 2029. My tariff says it is a variable one, so costs aren't guaranteed, other than the agreement to charge us less than GNE would have done until end of Sep.
  • Embebe - how did you contact EDF? When I have contacted them by phone I have had no luck getting hold of people who are able to help me or who even seem interested in helping me. Would be keen to know if there is another route I could try
