Changing Mobile number contract from One person's name to another

Options
Hi,  My current phone number/sim was originally taken out under my Mum's name with Virgin mobile, that contract has now expired and is now on a rolling monthly contract. I wish to start a new contract with the same number/sim under my name/bank account as i'm now in a position to pay it myself. Just wondering if this is possible and how to do it if so, as i really want to avoid having to get a new number.

Thanks for your help.

If you want an a contract with another network just get your mum to get the pac for the current acc and transfer that way.

If you want to take over the contract on Virgin, you'd need to find out it Virgin allow that (I'm not sure) and then you'd have to pass their credit check. You could then upgrade and keep the same number.

The easiest way to put the phone number into your name is to choose and sign up for whatever suits you best with any network except Virgin. Then your mother asks Virgin for her PAC and you give it to your new provider to port the number over, replacing the one supplied.

I've used the PAC process to change bill payer for numbers a fair few times - situations like this where I have taken contracts for family members where either they can pass credit check or can't be bothered with cashback by redemption.

Never tried the whole contract takeover thing - likely a whole world of hassle!

Yep, had a look and found this https://www.virginmedia.com/care/transfer-of-ownership - seems to only list passed away & critically ill as grounds. You could try ringing them, but the PAC to another network is likely easier.

You would think that this is quite a common 21st century issue as kids/students 'fly the nest'.

Also don't forget that they may use a contract transfer to (openly or otherwise) change you over to o2 signal.
