This is pretty nice, most of our family could move in or we could holiday let out the self contained bits.
Or this, then could buy a house in France, a very nice camper-van and put money away.

Love other peoples choices, some stunning areas and houses.1 -
I'd buy a very large flat with balcony on top of a shopping center in a very busy area in a nice looking town like Ealing, Clapham or Kingston, far from parks.
Really, it's always been my ideal model of house.1 -
I would actually just buy one of the 2 bigger houses on my little semi rural cul-de-sac if one came up for sale. Wouldn't need anywhere remotely near £1m, but I love the village and the community spirit we have in the little development is just fantastic, I'm not leaving until I have to!

As a child I lived in a little village called Sedlescombe in East Sussex, proper 1066 country. Would love to go back there one day.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.1 -
That's a tricky one as there are quite a few places I could happily live, but I've always fancied a house on Abbey Road in Knaresborough with a garden heading down to the river1

Somewhere central in England but not a City. So I could easily see both our children, who moved away for careers, and they could all stay with us together.
I'd keep our current place. Not large but coastal Cornwall. In many ways perfect apart from not being anywhere near the children!

Greymug said:4 bedroom cottage on the seaside with views and some land, in the Scottish Highlands. Somewhere close enough to civilisation and in a village small enough not to attract any tourists.
I wouldn't even need the whole million. I say half a million would be enough; I could invest the rest in a couple of rental properties.0 -
I'd have a property built to my personal preference. Nothing grandiose. What it would have is uninterrupted countryside views. This country has many great locations, away from the maddening crowds.1

I’d probably be buying in the same village that we are currently buying in as I love it but if I had the budget I would be buying this one:

rather than a mid terrace. I love the location, the view, the pool and the private access to the quay for a boat or two.1
