Do you have a combi boiler? (i.e. do you get hot water almost instantly from any hot tap at any time of the day?)
If the answer is yes then every cold tap will be fed direct from the mains and you're good to go.Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.3 -
So you have one tap not working correctly and you want compensation for that ? Really.0

After two weeks, yes really!caprikid1 said:So you have one tap not working correctly and you want compensation for that ? Really.
Out of the two taps we have, the Kitchen one is not working correctly and we were told the bathroom one was not suitable to drink from. And when you have a baby and a four year old in this heat it isn't an ideal situation having a cold drinkable tap that isn't working. Anyway, thanks for well thought out reply though, it really helped me a lot.1 -
How old is the house??
We assumed our upstairs sinks were fed from the tank in the loft, but when we recently had a new heating system installed, we did some initial investigative work to see what would need doing, and discovered they were both mains connected and not from the tank that just fed the shower. Our house was built early 1980s.
I would go and have a look in the loft to see where the pipes go! Also, check with the neighbours. If they have similar houses they might know if it is drinkable.
In the mean time, get a supermarket delivery of water. It's only £1.20 for a 5L container. You could then re-fil it somewhere. I'm sure your neighbour won't mind.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks to everyone who replied to my post with all your help and advice, with the exception of caprikid1, who I can only assume is related to my landlords plumber with his view on things.
Take care and thanks again.

Finding all this very strange. Nowadays all cold taps should be drinking water.
OP, is the house very old, what is your heating system?Old enough to know better...........0 -
the landlord replied saying she didn't think the water from the bathroom sink was ok to drink,So landlord wasn't sure and you didn't follow it up?

A lot of the time in a rental, access and use of the loft is not included in the tenancy, so checking pipes in the loft could be tricky....1
