Vanity plates have replaced fluffy dice and Sharon loves Tracy windscreen visors (at least they are spelt correctly)😀
DVLA dominates the sale of vanity plates so little chance of making a fast/slow buck. I can't see any benefits apart from advertising a business.
Having said that people can spend their money on what they want but would love to know how vanity plates enhance people's lives or save people money. More money than sense and definitely not MSE (moneysavingexpert.com)🍻 What next a discussion on Divos?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
My post upthread covered how a selected plate can be MSE and also covers off the furry dice dilemma:dipsomaniac said:Vanity plates have replaced fluffy dice😀

That way, any opinion on the quality of the business if formed upon the condition and manner in which the fleet of vehicles is maintained rather than a superficial and visual age-identifier. As such, the vehicles can likely be older overall than might otherwise be the case and the business can be more competitive.
- If buying a car of more premium nature which confers status in it's own right, then a plate that does not show the true age can mean that a substantial saving can be made versus brand new car. We are talking Bentley / Rolls / Ferrari league here.
- In another way, though not saving money, but facilitating the generation of more income (which achieves the same end result as money saving), an individual working in a consultancy business may not want to show a brand new car as it can attract negative comments around "typical consultants overcharging" whereas the same care with a non-age identifying plate (or an older plate) might be more amenable to some customer base contacts. So, a 5-Series with a "21" plate may be less desirable than the same 5-Series with the plate GR11MPY.
Anyway, all this talk has made my wife want to select her own plate, and I am thinking of getting a complimentary pair:- FUR12Y

Why not just have your name on a windscreen visor? You can spell it correctly and have you full name at a fraction of the cost and keeps the sun out of you eyes. WIN WIN WIN. You can put it in the rear window too. Sound ridiculous??"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

- They're a personal touch to a car
- A shorter / more distinctive reg can enhance the look of a car.
Why does it matter to you anyway? Theres no requirement to judge others for their choices or to have to find an absolute "need" for something.
Its a shame you cant grasp this site is about getting what you want at the best price, rather than existing only on what you need. Things would make an awful lot more sense to you then.

a windscreen visor does all that and more at a fraction of the cost WIN WIN"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

So have we finally established that it is all about cost? Affording something others can't? You can have your name in a windscreen (or is that illegal now) at a fraction of the cost of having it on a number plate. What's the difference apart from about 1 metre?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson1
