I understand that in the future - the government is going to have to tax electric vehicles (due to a lack / loss of revenue) - but at what rate ?
Is it likely that my present low emission car (2017 Suzuki Swift) will continue to be taxed at £30 or will that increase as well ?
Umm, I thought you referred regularly to your disabilities - aren't you on free VED?

Nobody can predict what future budgets will change, BUT usually there are inflationary increases and no more. Changing the basis of taxation normally only applies to newly registered cars. Most 2017 cars would be post-CO2 taxation, £150 flat rate - yours must have been registered in the first three months of that year.
No - not all disabled drivers get free h road tax
You have to receive high rate mobility DLA/PIP to get that benefit

They cannot hope to separate rates for electricity used for home purposes and refuelling (for those who will charge at home), so that's out.
Charging at work, which is currently free, will attract BIK (surprised me it doesn't right now) - so there's some money there.
Road pricing is sensible and as a low mileage driver I'd be all for it, but the 'freedom of movement' brigade will have a field day if they think they're being tracked.
