I have mine over me right now as I read in bed. No heating on though! We have been into the city recently to buy new waterproof coats. It was then lunchtime but we worked out that by the time we found somewhere to eat, ordered and waited for the food, we could be back home. The burger chain was suggested but fortunately I remembered that I always feel awful after eating one. It was nice to get home without buying anything other than what we went in for. We could enjoy a sandwich with homemade bread and a lovely fresh cup of tea. We are still working our way through the Christmas biscuit tins. At two or three each per day it is taking a while! Free places that I like to visit are the big city library and the museum, or to walk by the river.I hope you have a lovely day out together with your granddaughter.3

I have a heated thing that you sit on (seat pad? Sorry, brain still sleepy). It's so nice! If I'm seated for a while on a cold day I use it instead of heating the rest of the house, and get properly warm.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I do get a little concerned when people say they avoid heating the house for periods of time. I understand the cost implication but leaving a house cold can lead to other issues such as damp and it becomes so cold that when on the heating has to work harder.
I just leave my heating on all the time using a programme of temperature ranges throughout the day and night. It actually means the heating is off quite a bit of the time as the house stays reasonably warm. During the winter months a minimum of 19 from 7am to 10pm. The temperature is set to 15 from 10pm to 7am so the heating just stays off and the house rarely cools to below 18 to 17 during the night.
Most of the time the system only has to work to raise the temperature a degree or two.
My view anyway.
I am currently paying DD of £160 a month for gas and electricity which isn't too bad for a 4/5 bedroom house with 3 receptions and two bathrooms.7 -
Hi to everyone that reads my ramblings and I saw some heated throws in Home Bargains today, so I might go and have another look at them, so thanks for the heads up on them, I'd heard of them but never seen any. My g&e is the next biggest bill after the council tax and I do keep warm but any source of extra heat I can incorporate cheaply into the house is always helpful, I couldn't have the heating on all day I tried it a few years ago after someone told me it worked out cheaper and it scared me to bits when I read the meter for that day, so I haven't done it since.
I didn't actually go to see my dgd the other day, I wasn't feeling very well at all, I was giddy and light headed for two days constantly and the next couple not as bad, but I'm ok now with just the odd spell. I didn't go out the house for four days and I certainly wasn't up to driving anywhere. It's never happened before and as nothing hurt and I had no headaches I'm not sure what was wrong but it needn't visit again
So today I actually got around to doing some shopping for food, it's a good job I have quite a bit in stocks. So I made another menu plan and bought anything I needed for that, so I should be ok for a couple of weeks. I will need some milk though and the dog may need some bits and pieces and I'm going to have a go a a coffee and walnut cake I think or a pecan and coconut one, I haven't made ether one before but I think my cake making is a definite improvement on my breadmaking - I've bought some fresh flour and yeast to try the bread rolls again.
I will have to get around to the cleaning and laundry as not much has been done and I can see the dust on the mantle piece! So that's going to make an exciting next few days - not! oh and of course a few long pooch walks and quite a few shorter ones as well.
I have updated my signature but its not changing as fast as I would like but at least its going in the direction albeit slowly, very slowly!

Those giddy spells happen to me sometimes. It’s horrible because moving around makes it feel worse so you just end up stuck sitting around until it passes. In my case I associate it with viruses but I think it is wise to have it checked out if it happens again.I find that some flours don’t work well with particular yeasts and I get on best with D’s Farm yeast.3

I had dizzy spells over some months which the doctor thought was probably viral and which eventually passed completely. In my case it can also be caused by dehydration, but yours doesn't sound like that. I'm glad you're on the mend! It's also good news that your savings are headed in the right direction!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sometimes can be caused by low blood sugar too. Make sure you are eating enough please.3
