OK, got that. I've just had a careful look. I can't see any real wear at the tip of your green arrow - there might just be a slight ding there, not sure.

The odd thing is that, if there is any contact, it is against the metal frame (which is right at the tip of the green arrow), which is actually behind and above the lower surface of the adjustable plate. So moving the adjustable plate would only make things worse. At least that's how it looks to me. I'm going to find something to mark things up (haven't got lippy - perhaps some wax pastel art thingies?) and see what's touching what.

Might take a day or two.

    I'll get back on that.

The plate that takes the bottom lock you're having trouble with isn't set true.
Top and bottom aren't set to the receiving gap.
Marking the catch will be interesting.

It does look to be just as you say, John. The slot in the frame is 'smaller' than that of the presumably-adjustable plate. So, as you say, even if you do adjust that outer plate, it wouldn't make any difference...
The 'main' plate with the 'smaller' slot behind, is that one continuous plate the whole length of the door? Or is it in sections? I see that it's fitted with 'star' and/or pozidrive screws. If it's in sections, is there any chance you could try slackening-off the star/pozis a full turn and see if the plate can be moved fractionally downwards (if that plate is where a downwards-facing claw locates)?
