Both my new gas supplier and even a Govt.UK web page state that in converting cu.ft. gas units on your meter into Kw/hrs one uses a conversion factor of 0.0283 as part of the overall formula to reach an equivalent Kwhrs figure.
Since my old gas supplier has been using a conversion factor 100 x bigger at 2.83 how can they insist this correct when my meter plainly shows 3 different types of cu.ft units.
Per hour ,
Per rev. of a dial and
CU.FT. in bold letters.

I am in dispute with the old supplier at the moment following a ridiculous increase to my monthly payments to cover the coming Winter months.
How long have I / we been overcharged?
Can someone comment ?

Welcome to the forum. The gas company is correct. If you follow the instructions correctly (e.g. ignoring any digits or dials shown in red), the reading you get will be in hundreds of cubic feet. This has always been the case and is intended to keep the figures reasonably manageable, thereby minimising errors.Your direct debit amount is not the same as your bill.0

You may wish to post in the energy section. This section is alternative fuels (wood, oil, LPG etc). Energy covers gas and electric. (not your fault, its a bad description/layout from the site). There are some posters here can and will answer but nowhere near the number of people that will get involved if you post in Energy.
