Change of access to shared driveway

We also need to see what is on the plans submitted to the planning department.
If the width of the existing driveway (and/or gates) is altered then this might be something which needs planning consent and/or approval by the highway authority.
It isn't impossible that the neighbour has submitted plans showing their proposed new access, but neglected to fully show how the old one was going to be changed. They could reasonably do this because inserting a wall/fence/hedge between the two properties isn't necessarily something which needs planning consent, but in a worse case scenario the OP could be left with a driveway they aren't lawfully allowed to use.
