Had a hire car for a month. Paid for by the 3rd party insurers whilst mine was being repaired.
So end of may it went back. Middle of June I happened to notice a charge of £35 on my credit card from Enterprise. So I phoned them - looks like an admin charge for a fine, need to speak to the dept. Phoned them - busy no phone calls emails only. So I emailed them - took two weeks to come back to me. Speeding ticket for 15th May.
Of course, when I complained Enterprise said they emailed it to me two days after the offence. Despite having my email details (they emailed me the rental agreement on day 1). for some reason known only to themselves they'd emailed it to an invalid mailbox for the insurance company who were paying for it.
Six weeks since the offence. I was not happy. I know everyone says this but, it was a sunday afternoon. it could have been me or the Mrs driving. It would be a guess.
So, I emailed Enterprise again. They assure me they sent the form back to the police force on 17th may with my details. Im not 100% sure after past performance.
Obviously, its been two months now and I've heard nothing from the Police. Not really sure I want to chase them and say you forgot to send me the fine? And not even sure who I'd even speak to?

Nothing a private parking forum can really advise on, but if you can get the speeding fine overturned, some hire companies refund the admin charge. As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for police tickets. Register there but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the police (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I think the OP's predicament is that they've not received anything from the police; only an admin charge from Enterprise.
I think that the police have 6 months from the date of the offence to bring charges, after which they're time-barred. If Enterprise haven't properly discharged their S172 notice then they are currently in the frame for this; if they have then it's simply a waiting game.Jenni x5 -

I do wonder if they've done it properly. After all they made such a mess of it in the beginning.
Oh well, 4 months to go then!2 -
Don.t do anything until you receive a NIP from the police. You don't want to remind them of Their legal obligation. Until you receive your own NIP in your name then the problem stays with Enterprise.

I think they have now received a NIP/s172
Finally got NIP - two months after offence - FightBack Forums (pepipoo.com)
I wonder if the OP might have got confused about whether they previously posted here or on pepipoo?0 -
I'm struggling to see what the car hire company did wrong.......0

I think he's complaining that because(?) the hire company didn't tell him about the original NIP that they received, it all happened so long ago that he and his wife can't now remember who was driving. It's not really very clear.
Is the hire company required to tell him anyway? So long as they nominate him to the police it's then in the hands of the police.

Even though they had my email address, sent the notice of the NIP that they had been sent to the insurance company rather than me. I only found out there may be an issue when I noticed a £35 admin charge. Even then took them 2 weeks to send me the NIP.
So it was 6 weeks before I even had any details of the offence.0 -

Correct - between them for whatever reason sending the NIP incorrectly (they admitted the mistake and at least refunded the £35 charge) and then taking 2 weeks to sort it out, it was 6 weeks until I even knew any details.0 -
