I had a non refundable hotel booked in Dublin, via the above agent. 9-12 July 2021.
When Ryanair cancelled my flight i got in touch (beginning of June), I asked 1. Can I cancel and get a refund &/or 2. If no to question 1 can I rebook for June 2022.
Below is the response I have received:-

we need that you create a new booking with the new dates of travel.
The new booking has to be in the same hotel and for the same owner.
We you send to us the new booking reference, we can work with the hotel to cancel the first references free of charge.

I have replied to advise that I am not in a financial position to pay for another booking. I can’t understand why they can’t just amend the dates and to cancel free of charge is beyond belief. The grammar isn’t great either!
The weekend cost me almost £400.
Can anyone offer any advise please.

Is it a hotel only booking or a package holiday booking?0

If you made a non-refundable booking that means it's non-refundable and you will need to jump through whatever hoops they ask you to. Travel up probably has no direct relationship with the hotel and has bought your room through a wholesaler/bedbank so it's probably not possible to do what you suggest as they are a 4th party.Either cut your losses or take the chance on spending more money and hoping you may eventually get your money back for the first booking. Personally I doubt you will be getting a refund for the first booking even if you do make another booking.0

thanks for your reply, you are correct they booked via a wholesaler. So even contacting them before the date to change to next year, in a pandemic are they still saying non refundable means non changeable ?0 -
Yes. A change of dates will be classed as a new booking. You are subject to the goodwill of the provider to allow you to move dates. You can obviously wait to see how they reply but it is completely up to the hotel, wholesaler and Travelup whether they allow you to change or not and they obviously want you to make a new booking before agreeing to provide a refund or not.I don't say this to kick you when you are down but only so you don't make a similar mistake in future. You should not be making non-refundable hotel bookings abroad during a pandemic particularly though poor third party companies.0

i booked it before the pandemic, never gave it a thought that I would not be able to travel.
I actually contacted the hotel itself about it and although they said contact the agent they couldn’t see why I couldn’t change the dates.I appreciate your advice and sadly will have to withdraw from the family celebrations.0 -
