Got new iPhone but still showing the old iPhone in bluetooth settings

I have recently swapped my Three SIM into a new (to me) iPhone XS, having previously had an iPhone 8.  When I switch bluetooth on it still shows "now discoverable as ***'s iPhone 8".

How can I get my new phone to recognise that it is an iPhone XS not an 8?

Your backup/restore which is done when you get a new iphone likely changed the name of the iPhone X to ***’s iPhone 8. Check in settings.

Thanks.  I'm not sure where to look in settings and it's not really a big deal but it's just a bit annoying.  I will have a play around.

  • Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory and iOS or iPadOS device are close to each other. Turn your Bluetooth accessory off and back on again. Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is on and fully charged or connected to power. If your accessory uses batteries, see if they need to be replaced.
