...and if you watch the match on TV on standard freeview but listen to the commentary on Radio 5 live DAB, the radio is a few seconds ahead of the video.0

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
nick74 said:Once whilst watching terrestrial BBC I was talking on the phone to a lovely but slightly ditzy friend in Cyprus who had exactly the same BBC channel on in the background via satellite. I could hear that their sound was a few seconds behind mine, and I mentioned the satellite delay. This threw her completely "But...I thought Cyprus was 2 hours ahead of the UK?".
I tried to explain but gave up in the end!
But you also need to consider that your phone call isn't instant and that has delays too so you can't accurate judge the TV delay using that method over the phone.0 -
Terrestrial is faster than Sky. I knew this years ago when I would be watching Corrie via Sky and my neighbour would be watching via Terrestrial, I would hear the theme tune at the start of the ad break a second or 2 beforehand through the wall.0

Off topic, but there was an interesting scam from a while back I read about overseas where the scammers managed to slow down the live TV feed to a betting shop to enable them to place a bet on race that just finished. (but still been broadcast).

Its actually something that happened in the UK .Feeds accessed via the roof sometime in the 1970s on one or two bookmakers premises .PS , not the Hole in The Wall gang .But the Hole In One Gang where legitimate .Asked small bookmakers for odds on a hole in one in major golf tournaments .Many offered 33/1 6/1 as odds on a hole in one . True enough odds on any one player but not the large number of players in a tournament .0

I used to have the formula 1 live timing on my iPad and to get that in sync with the sky sports hd coverage, I had to pause it 10-13 seconds each race! The tv pictures were that far behind live!0
