There are stunning houses that are clad in corrugated cladding that have won architectural design awards.

Granted, this extension isn't going to win any awards, but if it has a building control certificate, it has been built to an acceptable level of quality.  The cladding is simply what it is - cladding - not an integral part of the structure.  We have Shou Sugi Ban cladding part of our house and our garden room, but if/when I get bored it can be quickly changed.

That could be changed in a day or so.

Here's one that won an award, although not to every ones taste.

Have to say that it looks more agricultural than industrial to me. In principle no issues with metal clad buildings, our own building is clad in zinc, but this one looks like it would be very dark inside. Its a rather big, and odd, leap however to say that just because you don't like the cladding that the whole thing needs rebuilding.

Wow! That is amazing. I'd love perhaps one or two rooms like that - say a bathroom and kitchen - but not sure about the whole house...

Absolutely. It's been 'certified' (as should be the architect), so must be complianaint.
I think it was clearly done as a statement and not as a cheap option, tho' I agree with (I think) everyone that it doesn't work on that house.
It wouldn't be me off in the least, tho' - but I would reclad it.

Had to look up 'Shou Sugi Ban'! Darn, I recall it looks stunning on your house, Doozer. Again, this house is too conventional for anything that dramatic.

Too right. I am particularly taken by the view from the kitchen window.

So much to read, so little time.

Walks into kitchen, "Man, all this old exposed brickwork is really getting me down - must look out window for some relief. Oh..."

I think you have a typo there Jeepers.
You probably meant to say compliant not complaint.
