Majority of appointments in most areas now face to face in your local Job Centre.Sanctions now being applied for failure to attend mandatory appointment types. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.3

My friend has an appointment at her local JCP next week. Her daughter had an appointment at the same JCP last week. Both are perfectly capable of using the phone and internet.

It's all a bit of a lottery at the moment. Many Jobcentres have more staff than available desks (particularly whilst 2m social distancing remains in place) so work coaches are working some days in the jobcentre and some days at home, so depending on the day of your appointment will determine if it's face to face in the jobcentre or over the phone. There are also new work coaches working from virtual hubs that are all by phone as they may not be based in your locale. Generally though, rule of thumb is face to face where possible as things start to return to normal.1

I had a face to face appointment 2 weeks ago and it’s back to telephone for the next one. My work coach said she is doing a mixture with people so she can see people face to face but not all of the time so that the JC doesn’t become too crowded.1
