TV aerial

Options
Hello, I've moved into a house a few months ago and this is the tv aerial situation.
Can anyone advise me on what I can do to fix it please? I have a spare connector thing but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect it. Am I best off ringing a professional? Thanksit?

Is it cut or two separate leads? Two leads would suggest it's sky tv.

If it's an aerial lead just connect the plug.

Certainly looks like Sky+ "shotgun" cable, have you traced where it goes to? Presumably either a Sky dish or terrestrial aerial?
Either way, it's unlikely to need a professional to get involved, unless it's Sky cabling and you need terrestrial or vice-versa.

Yeah so it's two separate leads and I do think the old owner had sky so theres a sky dish on the side.
I dont have that though and just want normal free digital on my tv so I dont have a way of plugging it in

Yeah I think that might he the issue I just want old school terrestrial from my tv, not sky. So I have no way of plugging it in the back of the tv currently

There are two cables, so there two Sky dishes?
Look on the roof, one aerial and one dish?

Well, if you just have a Sky dish and no terrestrial aerial then you probably need to get an aerial installer in to put up an aerial and cable it up where you need connections. They could probably remove/tidy up the Sky dish and cabling too if you don't require it.
Probably worth checking first that you don't have an aerial on/in your roof/chimney/loft though, and if you do, finding where the cables terminate within the property.

Yeah sorry I'm being thick here. Yeah there is one of each. Its just the attachment to the tv part I dont get.
I tried attaching a connector to the copper wire bit, but it just falls out

Yeah theres one of each on the roof so I assume each lead corresponds. It's just the physically attaching to the tv part I dont get

you can buy a new connector on ebay. comes as a repair kit. need to strip back the white insulation. keep the braiding away from the copper core. the braiding provides the earth. the kit comes with instructions anyway. so do that and plug it in.

Two cables go to one sky box, there will only be one dish.
