Hi, Im hoping someone can help, my daughter 15yrs old ordered some shoes for £195 from her Xmas money in January from someone on schein, she paid via PayPal, she has not recieved the item, I went on PayPal and it said she (my daughter) opened a dispute on the 13th Jan and it was closed on 17th she doesn't understand any of this, only the other day did she mention this person refunding her for these shoes 'when she gets her child tax credit money' she's been chatting to her on snap chat, doesn't have a number for her and speaks to her on Instagram, basically this person is totally taking advantage and has pocketed £195 of a teenagers money, I tried to reopen dispute on PayPal but am unable, do I just need to call them to get this sorted? Can they do anything after this amount if time? I've messaged the person on snap chat under my daughters name to ask them what's going on but no reply yet.
Grateful for any help and advise.

There are strict time limits when raising a complaint on PayPal. If they have asked for information and she’s not given it then they will close the case.
You need to be eighteen to have a PayPal account, so is she using yours? If so it sounds like you need to step in and take care of it for her.
I’ve not herd of Schein, so assume that you mean Shein. If so she’s too young to be allowed on that either, which may we’ll make it difficult if the seller doesn’t intend to refund her.2 -
If it's Shein, isn't that just an online store? If so, you can contact Citizens Advice about this. But in any case, this really is just plain theft. Six months is a long time to be patient. As GeordieGeorge says, it's time for you to take control now and contact PayPal (they're notoriously bad at sorting out problems) since your daughter is too young to have a PP account.Yes, you need to keep on at them to get it sorted. Which you will do if you don't give up. If all else fails, report it to the police - they have the power to get info about users from Instagram and Snapchat. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Just looked on Shein website, the most expensive footwear is a pair of boots for £64.49. Couldn't find a clothing website called Schein.
Is Schein a community thing? It's a hard lesson for your daughter, hope it gets resolved soon.0 -
Hi yes it's shein, it was for a pair of Nike Air shoes, I thought she'd done paypal via my ex but she'd opened her own account, she's not said anything to either of us, I just assumed she'd had them ages ago, told her she's been ripped off and should of said something sooner and not to be so trusting but hoping can sort something out. It's upsetting as she's used her money from Xmas, I couldn't afford to buy them for her what with furlough /redundancy and now reduced income. Still waiting to see if this person responds to the message I've sent. Will contact PayPal today and if she responds Ill suggest that theft will be reported to the police.BR as of 14/1/2009

Its six months later, paypal won't do anything. I'm afraid its a hard lesson to learn so early. Probably best to suggest you help your daughter when she spends large sums like this. Teach her how to use google so ask questions when something goes wrong. My sons are brilliant, because of the way I am with squeezing value out of every pound I spend online (and not losing money), they knew how to handle online transactions from an early age. But generally speaking, we are only talking £20 at a time for them.2

I think you also need to establish what your daughter has done with a PayPal account as she is not legally old enough to have one. That would indicate she has lied about her age when signing up, used someone else's ID etc. which could also present wider issues.0

Exactly. Whose card or account has she used, and was it with permission? OP, you need to work with your daughter to close that Paypal account and disassociate whatever payment method she has attached to it, from it.MattMattMattUK said:I think you also need to establish what your daughter has done with a PayPal account as she is not legally old enough to have one.
