I need some guidance on a problem with EON

Options
Eon wrote me on 11 June to say that my current contract expires 27 July and offered two tariffs for renewal. They said that if I did not select a new tariff I would be switched to EonEnergyPlan - which is more expensive.

So I went online to my account, as instructed, but could not find these tariffs. I then wrote them to ask for assistance in switching me over to the first recommended tariff as I could not find it.

They wrote back saying they were "sorry" that these tariffs have been withdrawn, so select another.

That does not seem right to me. They never said that the tariff was subject to availability or could be withdrawn. Their email was clear - select one of these tariffs by 27 July or I go over to their standard tariff.

What recourse do I have?

Terry

Go to a comparison site first and see what other companies have to offer. Make sure you use your actual annual consumption and not any figures produced by Eon.

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Absolutely none I am afraid. Tariffs come and go on a frequent basis: this is not just E.oN, it applies to all suppliers. Sending out letters in a dynamic market is a pretty daft thing to do as all it does is upset customers when the tariff is withdrawn. It would be much better to tell you where their latest tariffs can be found online.

My tariff changed three times in the 40 day period .
All tariffs have always been subject to change .

Their standard tariff is open all of the time but their special tariffs are issued in tranches (this goes for most suppliers).  e.g. they may have version  45 this month but next month they change it to 46 and month after change it to version 47.

    What recourse do I have?
None whatsoever as there is no wrongdoing here.
You need to select a current tariff or change supplier to an alternative tariff if you prefer that.
if you are having difficulty with the website, they will take instructions over the phone.      Or just follow this website:
