Hello

Looking to get a car in the next few weeks. Want an automatic  2 to 3 years old fed up with really old cars that always seem to develop major faults. Finally have the budget for something better. Will be paying cash & have no part ex.

I know a couple of people who have bought cars from FOW & have recommended them to me as am told there is no hard sell tactics. I just want to have a look and ask for help if needed.

Just wondering what the opinion is out their of FOW. Is it worth buying a warranty, as I have no mechanical knowledge is it worth paying for a vehicle inspection off the AA/RAC, do FOW HPI check the cars. Also am not sure if they take credit cards as would like to pay a deposit by credit card to get Section75 protection.  Also do they give much of a cash discount.

Grateful for any advice/opinions as I am really nervous about the whole car purchase thing as I have had my fair share of buying Lemons.

Thanks

I bought a car off FOW a couple of years ago and they limited the amount you could pay by credit card to £250 however I have since heard that they don't take credit cards at all now so would check before visiting.

The buying experience was easy at the time (pre-covid), no hard sell, the chance to look around at your leisure, test drives as required.

They don't do discounts or haggle. You either buy at the price indicated or you don't buy.

Just £100 on a CC will get you S75 protection for the full amount, up to £30K.

As far as I know they don't accept credit cards. They obviously don't want you to have s75 protection.
  • Don't accept credit cards, don't haggle AND look overpriced on the model I'm looking at, guess I don't need to waste any of my time looking at what they have to sell.

Fords are no more or less than a pile-'em-high used car "supermarket".

For a 2-3yo car, the main question has to be why it's not being retailed by a dealer as a manufacturer approved-used...?

Because Ford's outbid them at the car auctions maybe?

    Indeed;...my thoughts exactly.

I live in N.Cheshire and not a million miles from Winsford;..in recent times I’ve never seen a used car at FOW that was competitively priced enough for me to drive across there and have a look at it.

However, they must be doing something right  because they’ve been flogging cars as ‘Fords of Winsford’ since I was a lad;...decades ago they kept all their used cars in a cow field,...some of them up to their axles in mud!

They’ve obviously upped their game and expanded a bit since then though.

That's about the least likely reason.
