I obviously tried to find a replacement zero or low Standing Charge tariff for my annex when the Ebico deal expired. This year I tried again and all tariffs shown on several websites had daily standing charges at around 20p for each fuel. However I heard about an Exclusive 12 month deal which I started on 24 June 2021 with a daily Standing Charge of 7.35p daily.
A little off topic but is there a reason why you''re maintaining a separate supply to your annex? On the face of it, it would be cheaper to supply it from your main residence instead? (I realise this might be easier in theory than in practice!)

    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

I use the term ‘annex’ because it sounds pretentious to say a ‘cottage in my estate on the other side of the moat’.!!!  It is actually converted stables about 90 feet from my house and the planning permission states it can only be an annex to my house and cannot be sold separately.

Thank you, that makes much more sense! I was imagining it was attached.

I have the same problem. My annexe is on the other side of the road and am having to get a new pole and electricity connected. But no other way round it. I'm also looking for a cheap tariff. Wish they could just add it to the house.

    Same here.

I've tried a few comparison websites and the lowest daily standing charge I can fine is 17.75p (Eon Next Exclusive 2 Year v2).

I phoned Eon to ask if they had any deals that provided a discount for a second property and they said no. Over the phone, the lowest standing charge tariff they could quote was 24p/day, which demonstrates that you will find better deals on the web.

Has anyone found a better rate than 17.5p/day?

Looking at Which? Switch for my area:
    • Symbio have tariffs for 15p/day, I think, if you can put up with their unusual approach to billing.
    • Logicor have one at 15.75p/day.

If you have tried a few comparison sites and continuously get the same result from all, then that is probably the right answer.

Yes, I can find a lower standing charge than 17.5p/day.
But that answer doesn't help you.
You don't say which supply region you are in. Morever, it is pointless looking at just one element of a tariff make up; you need to look at the lowest overall cost for you based on your own consumption figures.

And presumably you have found that answer by reference to the few comparison sites you have looked at that all confirm the same result.

Utilita have a zero standing charge tariff, at least they have in North Scotland area.
I found this on the Citizens Advice comparison site entering 10 kWh as my annual consumption.

I get the same zero standing charge  for Utilita on the Citizens Advice website. (midlands)

However it seems that Utilita tariff is only for 'Pay As You Go' meters and the website comparison defaults to PAYG.
