Sainsbury's Energy

Fifth Anniversary
Early last year I switched to Sainsbury's Energy. I have had no problems with them till the switched to E.on.
The promised a seemless switch over, but it has been anything but.
To start they refused to claim the Direct Debit, so I had to make a card payment to avoid falling behind.
Then they did a random debit of £278.91p to my account. After pestering them for four weeks I eventually got that credited back to the account.
The bonus Nectar points I should have for purchases made at Sainsbury's in early May are still outstanding. They have promised them by next Friday ( but I will not be holding my breath).

I would never had joined them if I had known I would end up with E.on due to previous problems with them.

They have refused any sort of compensation point blank.
Then if I move to another company there are penalty fees to pay.

Anyone any suggestions please ????

OP just so that you are aware, you are dealing with E.oN. Sainsbury's Energy is a white label supplier: a reseller if you like. You are contacted with E.oN; customer service is provided by E.oN as is billing.

As you know, when E.oN took over NPower it decided to move these accounts onto its new technology platform run by E.oN Next. It has now moved all existing customers on to this new platform which happens to have been developed by Kraken Technologies (Octopus Energy in all but name).

    What could possibly go wrong?

Any existing Sainsbury's Energy customer on here who is happy with their customer service. Are their bills accurate and are direct debit levels reasonable and in line with usage. Are you dealing with Sainsbury's Energy or EoN Next or are they interchangeable.

"Sainsbury's Energy" is a trading name used under license by E.ON Next Energy Limited. So you will be dealing with E.ON staff presumably, but possibly not the same staff who usually deal with "E.ON customers"

They now say: "We'll reward you with bonus Nectar points when you sign up."  That's not "after" but "when you sign up". I signed up last week and if I don't get the Nectar points soon after they take the pre-payment, I'll be chasing them and complaining if necessary.  If you responded to similar wording and have still had nothing months later, then a formal complaint seems warranted.
I used E.ON in the distant past and don't recall any major problems other than upping my DD payment to help their cash-flow at one point - which was resolved.

I was looking at their current offer of paying 12k nectar points if you do their 2 year fixed tariff.  In theory it sounds like you can switch, get the points, and then leave again for a better tariff soon after (since no exit fees)!
  • Sainsbury’s Energy are dealt with by the e.on next staff although they do have a dedicated team but they will deal with both. Also remember e.on and e.on next are 2 different companies. E.on next don’t deal with e.on customers part from the newly migrated customers.

You should be able to use the social media sites to contact E.on next who should also be able to help with Sainsbury’s energy as they’re all on 1 system

    Thank you for replying.
I signed up to the Sainsburys Energy 2 year fix today after I phoned them to find out how quick they answer the phone. An EoN Next customer adviser answered the promptly and was very helpful. All customer interactions will be with EoN Next staff but Sainsbury's Energy supplies the energy or so I was told. If I phone the Sainsbury's telephone number it will be answered by EoN Next staff.  I don't care who answers provided they can answer my question. There is a 14 day calling off period so if I'm unhappy with anything I can stop the switch. After that I can leave without penalty as the Tariff does not have any exit fees. I will manage my account via email and Twitter.
I provided my Nectar card number when I signed up and expect the points to be applied by the time they take the first direct debit.

Good news. without prompting, Sainsbury's Energy has added 12,000 Nectar points to my Nectar account one month after I switched to them. That is equivalent to £60. That will help with Christmas shopping.
