Rejecting a used car?
Comments

There is a shortage of good used cars at the moment and prices seem to be going up daily. I valued one of our cars on webuyanycar a month ago and again today, its gone from 9,700 a month (ish) ago to 10,400 todayneilmcl said:Why is it that nearly all the posts regarding faulty used cars are from people buying cars unseen from the other ends of the country? Genuine question, are used cars so rare at the moment that it's so difficult to get them locally?1 -
The car was priced right for the market and being a dealer I took their word for the condition etc. Being used its fair to assume the car will have some wear and tear - however the sales person outright lied to me on a few points i asked him specifically.. I’ll update this thread once I get some resolution. My plan was never to reject the vehicle but it may come to it depending on how the garage want to deal with the issue..

You cannot expect the tyres on a used car that's done 11.5K miles to be 'mint' unless they've been replaced, beyond that all they have to be is legal, which they are. You've already accepted £50 compo for the kerbed wheel, although now you're apparently regretting that.
So, what this is down to appears to be the paint chip damage, which, in theory, they could claim had occurred on your return journey, if you failed to notice it at collection.
You're going to have to factor all that in against the not inconsiderable cost of transporting it back to Stansted and then getting yourself home by other means: all at your own expense and possible loss of income if you have to take a day off work to do this.
As many others have intimated, this has 'buyer's remorse' written all over it: the common themes being, as ever: 1) did not test drive before purchase, 2) did not inspect properly before completing the purchase and driving away, and 3) purchased from a dealer hundreds of miles away.
PS: if the dealer has 'a history of doing this to other buyers', which you've presumably gleaned from looking at online reviews, then why didn't you do the same research before contracting to buy?No free lunch, and no free laptop

The wheels and tyres I’ve accepted but the body work is the issue which as mentioned I didn’t see the damage till the car was detailed. The only buyers remorse is buying from this garage.0

What are these points he lied to that you asked specifically. Saying a car is "mint", after you agreed to buy it isn't very specific.amv80994 said:
Yep I have a sales video of him saying “mint” numerous times.. garage is Jct600 located in Bostonneilmcl said:

Glad it worked out for you in the end.
Would it be possible to share the final resolution as that can then be used by others as a guide in the future?0
