I am sure in the new world of fixed DD they can manage to make that 1/12th EAC + 30% so building up a nice bit of credit.
But didn't they plan to pay credit interest at a decent rate on credit balances in their new scheme? More than in normal savings accounts.  Meaning that they could estimate at 50% more than actual monthly usage and build up a nice savings account at an above-market rate of interest. As long as they don't go bust that is.

The bills even confuse myself.  I am a former employee at ScottishPower and Britsh Gas and also I am as sharp as a tac. Hashtag confused but I will go back and ckeck my 2 bills.  Many thanks for sharing.
I've now looked at others explanations and then went back to have another try. As I said, I was very dubious about my first look as the VATman would surely have picked an anomaly up. So I built an Excel sheet and created a proper account that translated their own ridiculous manipulations into one that people can understand. When that logs actual units used rather than their guesses and rebates figures and then is priced up for the month against the DD charged it then shows the true rolling credit balance. And despite my impression that also irons out all the VAT differences. So you can stop digging out your past 2 bills - and I apologise for any extra work that I created for you.

Out of curiosity, I checked the negative bill I got in July 2020 (back in the good old days when they lowered their ludicrous estimates at the height of summer) and they calculated the negative VAT on the negative balance correctly.

I did wonder if that user name was some sort of giveaway.
